You can purchase commercial detangler sprays at pet supply stores or make your own. The best sprays use some type of agent to make the hair slick, such as silicone. Cornstarch can work well dry by rubbing it deep into the hairs and using a V-rake or slicker brush to detangle. You can use a conditioner at full strength on the mats or make your own light detangler by adding a tablespoon of dog coat conditioner to water in a spray bottle. Shake it well and then spray it on the coat. Be careful, though. With any detangler product, homemade or otherwise, you must then bathe your dog or risk mats developing from the leftover conditioner because it will attract dirt.

Even though I have tried several detangling products, I recently started using your TrueBlue Easy Comb Detangling Spray which is by far the best product. I have a white Pomeranian (Cotton) whom I rescued a few months ago. Your product dries fast, cleans the coat and has a wonderful scent. I take Cotton to the dog park everyday and am always asked How do you keep your dog so white? Thanks to your product, his coat looks outstanding. I definitely plan to start using your other products on both my dogs.

What Is a Good Detangler for a Long-Haired Dog
• Spray bottleCoconut Oil BenefitsCoconut oil is one of nature's best supplements. It can benefit your dog inside and out. You can supplement your dog's food with coconut oil for overall health, and when used topically, it helps heal skin wounds and disinfect them, soothes sore spots and heals itchy skin. It's good for dry skin and helps clear eczema and dandruff. It also helps alleviate doggy odor. Add coconut oil to your dog's food to help prevent infectious diseases, aid digestive health and weight control, and keep skin problems, arthritis and the risk of cancer at bay. Feed 1 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight of unrefined coconut oil each day.Simple Detangler and ConditionerFirst make rosemary water by boiling 4 cups of water and then adding 2 teaspoons of fresh rosemary leaves. Let this sit for at least 30 minutes, and then pour the liquid through a dish towel or colander into a bowl. Combine 1 cup of the rosemary water, 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel, and 5 to 6 drops of coconut oil.How to UseLet the mixture cool, then pour it into a spray bottle and shake well. Use it to mist your dog's coat before brushing or after her bath to condition and detangle the coat. Let the coat finish drying; spray and brush again, and your dog will have a shiny, silky and healthy coat. Discard any of the mixture you don't use to avoid bacterial growth, which can occur in mixtures with no preservatives. Store the leftover rosemary water in the refrigerator and use it to make a fresh batch of detangler whenever you need it, or you can use it as a great-smelling hair rinse for yourself!By Ann ComptonResources:
