Choosing dog food seems so confusing. How can I learn the basics?

Hello, We've been feeding our dogs (8 yr old Jack Russell and 4 yr old Beagle/Dachshund mix) both the Heartland and Seafood Select recipes for a few years now. We chose your brand because one of our dogs has a joint problem and we wanted something with Omega Fatty Acids. Well, not only did we see an improvement with his leg, but also both their coats were healthier looking, our other dog's digestion problems cleared up and they seem to be just a little bit happier. Not to mention they love eating it. It was only after buying it a few times that I noticed that your food is made in the USA and as both my husband and I are veterans, we love to support companies that in turn support our country. So I just wanted to say thank you and I look forward to feeding my dogs your food for many more years to come!

I spent hundreds of dollars at the vet. Finally I put him on Purina one and he is PERFECT now. He loves his food, has great energy, has excellent poop, and a very shinny coat. I’m convinced now that grain free 5 star is not for my boy! He will stay on Purina one!!

Mix-ins with superfoods and ancient grains made for your dog's specific needs. My Springer developed “excessive itchiness” at age 5. I had always fed her Purina ONE and Beneful thinking they were the better grocery store brands. After some googleling, and finding Mike here, I put her on Brothers Complete Allergy Formula. Six months later, I was able to reduce her medication (ceterizine). Not wanting to feed her just one brand exclusively, I changed to Origen grain free for several months and then to Blue Wilderness. Here it is a year and a half later and she no longer needs any allergy medication. She doesn’t seem to be allergic to corn or wheat products, but I believe the grain based dog foods contribute to an inflammatory process that causes her to itch. Praise the Lord, such a relief! Also, her coat is crazy thick now.
