I have used the Acana Singles Lamb and Okanagan Apple, and my dogs seem to really like it. I recently found a large worm in the bottom of the bag and was not only grossed out, but very upset with the cost of the product, the high quality ziploc bag and i also keep my food in airtight containers. I emailed Acana and sent the lot# information and was extremely unimpressed with their lack of ownership for any possible issue. I received 2 separate emails assuring me that the worm in the food could not possibly come from them due to their “high quality standards, and confidence in their quality control procedures”. When a company is “too perfect” to acknowledge and QC issues, chances are good that there are QC issues behind the scenes. When they dismiss an issue without even researching, they have shown me that my pet deserves much better care and products than what they have to offer.
There is a a bag of dry dog food from Acana for small breed
I think Acana Regionals are awesome. I’ve tried Grasslands and Ranchlands. Neither of them worked for us for various reasons unrelated to the quality of the food. Frankly, I’m disappointed that they don’t work for us. I would definitely give it a try if I were you. Depending which Blue Buffalo you were using, you might not have been feeding your dog rice previously, which the Four Friends contains. If you have access to Acana, can you also get Orijen? My dogs both do great on Orijen.
Overall, the ingredients in Acana dog food are above average.
I was feeding her the one with Brown Rice so I don’t know what it could be:( I have access to Orijen through the same supplier that I can order Acana from. Maybe I’ll give that one a try to. Its really limited in terms of all natural/grain free dog food here. I think the only other one that I have access to is Taste of The Wild. Besides that its all the regular brands…Eukanuba, Iams, Science Diet, Royal Canin, Purina. There are a few other brands that seem more natural but they all contain some amount of grains.
