In order to ensure that we make the best match for a dog with a new family, potential adopters are required to go through an interview process, fill out an application, and have a home check done by one of our volunteers. We do not do same day adoptions. AFRP only adopts out dogs that have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment. Adopters are encouraged to take their new AFRP dog to one of our participating vets for a free wellness check (see list of ).He's got game! Steph is a 2-year-old, 10-pound Pomeranian/Spaniel mix with excellent ball handling skills - ready to play fetch? Steph came to AFRP from our partners at the Salinas Animal Shelter after he finished his stray time and was too bashful to be put on the adoption floor. Happily, Steph's winning personality is already starting to emerge, and he happily accepts treats, walks nicely on the leash, and meets other dogs with happy wags.
