Thanks for answering my question. I was concerned after reading comments on here that people were not satisfied with Whole Earth Farms food. I only fed my 2 1/2 year old chihuahua 1 can of it so far. There were some on here that stated in the beginning, the WEF was good, and then their dog began having issues. So, I began to read about various dogfood online for about 2 hours last night, and there were good reviews about blue buffalo and 4health. What’s your opinion on these foods? Thank you so much for your help!

I decided to try this food when my German shepherd/malinois puppy was about 10 weeks old. We did the slow transition from the food he was on, even slower than recommended. He stared having diarrhea right away which I attributed to the change in food. He ended up on an antibiotic for an overgrowth of bacteria. That helped for a little while, then the diarrhea returned. He started rapidly loosing weight. His ribs were sticking out, he looked neglected. We had him checked for parasites and they found none. We dewormed him anyway just in case they missed something. Again, the diarrhea stopped for a bit but returned shortly after. (Mind you it never did become normal solid poop, always soft) Our Vet told us to give Pepto Bismol to see if that would help. I was reluctant to say it was from the food because it was supposed to be a good food with quality ingredients so I tried the Pepto. It helped at first but then stopped helping. He wound up on antibiotics again and I said enough is enough. So my Vet agreed it was time to try a different food. We decided to switch to Royal Canin German shepherd food which we’ve used in the past with no issues. It is more expensive but I trust it because it was the only food that my previous shepherd was able to eat and not have explosive diarrhea. (We even tried the insainly expensive prescription hypoallergenic diets and they didn’t work) Sure enough, he just finished his second bag and his stools are normal and he has gained weight. You can no longer see his ribs when he stands. I would not recommend Whole Earth Farms. It may work for some dogs but it definitely did not agree with mine.
